Roots & Wings creates an environment where young children develop a strong sense of self and belonging through the implementation of a research-based curriculum that provides rich and meaningful experiences.

Staff Mission statement

We are a dedicated team of early childhood professionals that honor and respect the schools mission and philosophy. We embrace each child’s individuality and unique learning style. We maintain our commitment through personal growth and meaningful collaboration.

Directors Mission statement

It is the responsibility of a Director in any early childhood program to oversee the day-to-day activities in such a way that brings cohesion to a program and have a sense of purpose. I am determined to:

-Use good judgment while joining together the best evidence and research regarding child development and learning into effective classroom practices. I reject educational fads and political pressure that reduces a young child to a budget number or measured outcome.

-Understand that children must connect to information emotionally, intellectually, and physically before they can understand and master such information. I will help children make connections by providing experiences known to benefit young children as well as develop relationships with others.

-Never coerce a child to learn at the expense of understanding. Learning and understanding are separate things. I will honor each child’s unique individual way of discovering life, humanity, and their own intellectual gifts.

- Commit to my own personal and professional growth while increasing my own knowledge. I will encourage staff to do likewise.

-Value each family. The family is a child’s first teacher and has a lasting impact on the child far beyond any preschool experience or educational institution.

-Support the mission, goals and objectives of Roots & Wings Community Preschool.

-Be grateful each day that I can do this wonderful work.
